Agents Angry at Insurer Website

Why are insurance agents in Massachusetts angry at an auto insurance company website?
The company in the middle of the storm is Progressive Insurance and they just posted something on their website that may affect the sales of auto insurance agents: selling auto insurance policies. With that action, the middlemen’s jobs are now in trouble, but according to them the site is misleading and it asks for personal info prohibited by state regulations.
This is now under investigation by the attorney general. However, the Division of Insurance said the info on the site is potentially misleading but the company is in full compliance with state regulations.
According to Progressive Insurance’s head of agency operations, John Barbagallo , “We are committed to providing products and services to independent agents to help them compete effectively in the market and to help them grow.”
